Artist Statement The most important element in my work is texture. I am fascinated with textures as they occur in nature and try to reflect them in my work. I have found that Handmade Paper is the one medium that can be manipulated to capture and imitate natural forms. By incorporating natural elements and organic materials into my paper, I can manipulate reality. By this, I mean create an image that appears natural in texture, but purely man-made in color and form. I feel most successful with my work if it evokes some question as to what it's really made of.
